Welcome to The College of New Rochelle. I hope that you will take time to explore our website  to learn about CNR’s extraordinary history and become acquainted with our vibrant, diverse community of students, faculty, staff and alumni.

The story of The College of New Rochelle is a story of access - access to the transformative value of higher education. At its inception by the Ursuline Order in 1904, CNR provided much needed access to women and immigrant populations on its suburban New Rochelle campus. These Ursuline visionaries built the foundation for an institution that is ever evolving and prepared to meet and respond to the challenges of a constantly changing educational landscape, while remaining grounded in the liberal arts. Their vision produced an institution that inspired, educated, and empowered generations of students and continues to do so as we welcome new generations each year.

Today, the College has grown to include four schools – the School of Arts & Sciences, the Graduate School, the School of New Resources for adult learners, and the School of Nursing & Healthcare Professions. With campuses in Harlem, Bedford Stuyvesant, Co-op City, and the South Bronx that complement the main campus in New Rochelle, CNR provides even greater access to an expanded range of underserved populations, including first generation college students, students of color, and military veterans.

At The College of New Rochelle, I feel a palpable sense of unity and pride in this legacy and mission as well as an equally strong commitment to work together to enhance that pride as we create the next exciting chapter in CNR’s history.

I look forward to welcoming you to The College of New Rochelle. Together, we can and will do great things.

William Latimer, Ph.D.
