Communication professionals who relate well to and engage effectively with others possess the very communication skills that employers value. Job candidates with versatile communication skills are increasingly sought in the employment market. Additionally, the digital age presents new challenges for communicators in all segments of society. Through a curriculum that emphasizes problem-based learning and blends theory and practice, The M.S. in Communication Management and Media program will prepare you to assume leadership roles in which you’ll address the communication and leadership needs of private and public-sector organizations. You’ll develop the knowledge, skills, and mindset necessary to be an influencer, a designer of effective strategies, and a shaper of communication efforts.


This program is designed with busy people like you in mind. Our online, hybrid (classroom/online), weekend, and intensive courses give you the flexibility to work around your other commitments, like work and family. Our New Rochelle location in lower Westchester County is just 30 minutes from New York City, the media capital of the world. Our students have interned at media, nonprofit, sport, and entertainment corporations in New York City, and Westchester including Verizon, ABC, ESPN, White Plains Hospital, and Fox News.

Students have a choice of three concentrations within the program.

The Concentration in Leadership, Communication Consulting, and Entrepreneurship (which is offered in person and fully online) develops the leadership and communication skills needed to run consulting programs, build a team or business, and increase others’ trust and confidence in you.

The Concentration in Strategic Communication Management equips you become an influencer and designer of creative communication strategies needed by all organizations.

The Concentration in Sports and Entertainment Marketing and Management provides you with skills and knowledge needed to be a brander, designer, and promoter of sports and entertainment events, projects, products, and teams.

Culminating Experience - 6 Credits

Students select a culminating experience that includes a thesis or a comprehensive exam and two courses selected in consultation with their advisor. 

Thesis Option 

Six credits can be earned through the Master's Thesis Option. CMA 980 and CMA 981 are required for completion of the thesis. Students discuss thesis with their advisor prior to registering for CMA 980.

Specialization Option 

Students who do not choose the Master's Thesis Option are required to take six additional credits in elective specialization courses, approved by the faculty advisor. They also must pass a Comprehensive Examination CMA 982. Students should complete 27 credits before taking the  exam. Students taking the exam may consult with their advisor regarding the format.
